Mineralogy and Chemistry
The quartz content in the
granitic rocks of this area is from 10-40 Vol. percent, lower values are of Monzodiorites (Deep greenish black
granite) and higher values are for typical pink Jalor
granites. Quartz in these rocks are generally free from any inclusion and clear. So suggesting to take a good polish. Besides quartz there are alkali-feldspar, pyroxene, amphiboles and biotites. Accessory minerals are magnetite, epidote etc.
Joints And Structure:
The only structure seen in the
granites are joints. There are three to four sets of vertical joints within the granite in the Jalore area. The main joints are N 64 degree W/vertical and N 18 degree W/ vertical. Besides these two a N 60 degree W and N 18 degree E joints are also seen. The pink granite are generally devoid of any foliation except a weak foliation (Onion type structure) in the marginal parts as in the area of Dabla Bhakar.
The other structures which are present in the rhyolitic flows are vaguely developed floe layers. These flow layers are of two types (i) Swirling flow layers (ii) dipping flow layers but they have not definite flow directions. That indicate variable thickness of rhyolites in the area and huge quantity of pink and grey
granite.
